OSIJEK, Jan 16 (Hina) - The head of the Osijek-based Croatian
government office for the transitional administration of Eastern
Slavonia, Baranja and Western Srijem, Ivica Vrkic, said on Tuesday
that his office was in contact with the Serb side every day.
Vrkic, who is also a deputy government representative in the
transitional administration, said that members of his office had
met for talks with local Serb authorities last week.
Commenting on the latest UN resolution on the UN operation for
the reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area, Vrkic said that it
contained all Croatian demands and an implementation mechanism for
the peaceful reintegration.
He stressed that the greatest test would be the
demilitarization of the area and that its successful completion
would open the way to the peaceful reintegration.
The head of the UN transitional administration, US General
Klein, would inform the UN Security Council when the
demilitarization would begin, after which the whole process would
have to be completed within a period of 30 days, Vrkic said.
