The two delegations discussed the organisation and work of the
local self-government as well as the take-over of abandoned
property and the renting of state-owned flats.
Aide to the government commissioner for Knin, Zeljko Reic,
stressed that unsolved housing problems had a direct negative
impact on the economic recovery. The Housing Commission would not
issue permits for the occupation of flats in the way it used to do
recently, Reic said, adding the Commission would revise all
previous housing permits.
'Croatia can guarantee to all its citizens a roof over their
heads, but not in the way some individuals had planned, by owning
illegally two to three flats', Majdak said. Announcing evictions,
Majdak stressed that the legislation had to secure safety to the
citizens.
The two delegations also discussed ways to revive the local
economy.
