BELGRADE, 13 Dec (Hina) - The Yugoslav Foreign Minister Milan
Milutinovic and the Serb member of the Bosnian Presidency, Momcilo
Krajisnik, signed an agreement on dual citizenship in Belgrade on
Saturday.
"The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Bosnia-Herzegovina have
agreed that citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina will be able to have
Yugoslav citizenship, along with the citizenship of Bosnia-
Herzegovina," said a statement from the Yugoslav Foreign Ministry,
adding that the agreement was in line with the European Charter on
Human Rights and the Dayton agreement.
The signing of the agreement was Yugoslavia's additional
contribution to and confirmation of its support for the Dayton
peace agreement and the strengthening of the peace process,
stability, good neighbourly relations in the region, and the
development of its overall relations with Bosnia-Herzegovina as
well as to the protection of rights of Serbs and Montenegrins in
Bosnia-Herzegovina, the statement said.
Krajisnik recalled that the drawing up of a citizenship law,
including dual citizenship issue, was being brought to an end in
Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The Bosnian Presidency had signed a statement saying that citizens
of Bosnia-Herzegovina could have dual citizenship only if a
bilateral agreement with the country in question was signed,
Krajisnik said.
