VUKOVAR, Dec 5 (Hina) - The Trust Establishment Committee of the
eastern Croatian city of Vukovar on Friday expressed satisfaction
with the improvement of the security situation in the city.
Mayor Vladimir Stengl expressed satisfaction with the fact that
bombing attacks after 18 November had passed and that the situation
had calmed down completely.
A Serb representative in the Committee, Djordje Macut, said that
the current residents of Vukovar were still concerned about the
imminent introduction of local border traffic between Croatia and
Yugoslavia, because, as he put it, settlers in the Danubian area
from other parts of Croatia and residents of certain villages which
were not on the local border traffic list could not receive local
border traffic passes, and would not be able to go to Yugoslavia
without a visa.
Stengl expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of cooperation of
the Centre for the Reconstruction and Development of the Danubian
area, and criticized the work of the Vukovar Red Cross (which has
not yet been reintegrated into the Croatian system).
