GOVT, UNTAES REPS CONDEMN ANTI-SERB LEAFLET ( Editorial: --> 0967 )

( Editorial: --> 0967 ) VUKOVAR, Nov 14 (Hina) - The Croatian National Trust Establishment Committee, UNTAES, Croatian Interior Ministry and Vukovar's Mayor, Vladimir Stengl, condemned a leaflet which appeared in Vukovar during the night between Thursday and Friday aimed at upsetting Serb residents. In the written condemnation delivered to reporters on Friday, Stengl called the authors of the leaflet "loser forces", and called on all residents to be rational and not to give in to provocations. The leaflet is against the Croatian state policy, it hurts the process of peaceful reintegration and we condemn it resolutely, deputy chairman of the National Trust Establishment Committee, Ivica Vrkic, said after a meeting with an assistant Croatian Interior Minister in Vukovar. Another deputy chairman of the National Committee, Vojislav Stanimirovic, asked the Interior Ministry to launch an investigation into who printed the leaflet and to make public the results of the investigation. UNTAES spokesman Philip Arnold said he would ask of the Transitional Police Force to conduct a probe. It was stupidity and prejudice which was not concurrent with the government's Trust Establishment Programme, Arnold said. Condemning the leaflet, Assistant Interior Minister, Josko Moric, noted that similar things always happened before important decisions for the peaceful reintegration were reached. The leaflet could have originated "from different sides," Moric said, stressing that the Transitional Police and Interior Ministry were undertaking every measure regarding the security of all residents.
