"APEL" REQUESTS THAT FAMILIES OF KILLED FROM VUKOVAR VISIT OVCARA ( Editorial: --> 0035 )

( Editorial: --> 0035 ) ZAGREB, Nov 11 (Hina) - "Apel", the Croatian centre for the protection of human rights of imprisoned and missing Croatian citizens and members of their families, on Tuesday forwarded a letter to UN transitional administrator for eastern Croatia William Walker and the National Committee for the restoration of trust, recalling that the UN could do a lot more in searching for the truth about people taken away from Vukovar between 17 and 20 November 1991, after the then Yugoslav People's Army had seized the town. "We beseech you, on behalf of all those people, of all victims, to give permission to their families to arrive in Vukovar on 20 November 1997 in five buses (carrying) 250 persons, and then to slowly proceed on foot from Vukovar Hospital to the new cemetery, and then to visit Ovcara by bus, where they could lay flowers, light candles and pray for their dearest", the "Apel" said in the letter. Ovcara is where the remains of 200 killed persons, Vukovar Hospital patients, were unearthed. "Apel" called on ambassadors accredited in Croatia, European Community monitors, representatives of political parties and Serbs to join them in their plea. (hina) ha jn 112011 MET nov 97
