SARAJEVO, Oct 26 (Hina) - On occasion of the Pope's Day, 26 October,
Bosnia-Herzegovina's Roman Catholic bishops released a letter
containing guidelines for the implementation of a message Pope John
Paul II had forwarded to the Catholic faithful in Bosnia during his
visit to this country on 12 and 13 April 1997.
The letter was quoted by the Bosnian Croat news agency (HABENA), as
saying that bishops regarded themselves as particularly called
upon to strengthen the unity of the Church, to urge forgiveness and
reconciliation among people and to make great efforts aimed at the
respect for God's law and the resolute protection and promotion of
human dignity and inalienable human rights and freedoms.
The letter signed by Archbishop of Sarajevo Vinko Puljic, Bishop of
Banja Luka Franjo Komarica, Bishop of Mostar Ratko Peric, and
Assistant Bishop of Sarajevo, Pero Sudar, said that during his
visit to Sarajevo, Pope John Paul II gave them an incentives to be
promoters and defenders of "Christ's Kingdom in the whole of
Bosnia-Herzegovina, where divine providence wants us to be."
