POPE EXPRESSES SORROW AT BOMB ATTACK AGAINST CATHOLIC SCHOOL IN SARAJE

SARAJE $ VO SARAJEVO, Oct 12 (Hina) - After Saturday's bomb attack against the multiethnic Roman Catholic school in Sarajevo, Pope John Paul II, forwarded a letter to the Archbishop of Sarajevo, Cardinal Vinko Puljic, expressing his sorrow over that act, the Bosnian Catholic news agency (KTA) said on Sunday. The letter, signed by Vatican Secretary of State, Angelo Sodano, read that the Holy Father deeply sympathised with Cardinal Puljic, teachers and students of this multiethnic educational centre in the downtown Sarajevo, and that the latest bomb attack occurred after a recent attack against the Jesuitic church in the Sarajevo suburb of Grbavica. According to the message, the Holy Father recalling his April visit to Sarajevo, fervently hopes and wishes that a wall of misunderstanding and animosity may fall down eventually so that values of mutual respect, dialogue and constructive understanding and peace can be promoted in the Bosnian capital and the whole of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The Sarajevo cantonal interior ministry said on Saturday evening that the last night's explosion in front of the Roman Catholic school in Sarajevo was caused by a time bomb assembled out of a military mine according to the first results of the investigation into the incident. According to a statement of the cantonal ministry, this and previous explosions seem to be interlinked and by comparison of the current results of the investigation it can be supposed that the same terrorist group is responsible for recent bomb attacks in the Bosnian capital. The bomb attack against the Catholic school caused no injuries. (hina) mš 121345 MET oct 97
