ZAGREB, Oct 4 (Hina) - The newly-nominated Archbishop of Zagreb,
Josip Bozanic, was on Saturday installed as the Archbishop of
Zagreb at a ceremony at the Zagreb Cathedral.
The former Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Franjo Kuharic,
resigned and Archbishop Msgr. Josip Bozanic, the former Bishop of
the island of Krk, has taken over command of the Zagreb
archdiocese.
After the Apostolic Letter was read, by which Pope John
Paul II nominated Bozanic as the archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal
Franjo Kuharic handed him the pastoral staff, rendering Msgr.
Bozanic the 76th Bishop of the Zagreb archdiocese in its nine
centuries-long history.
Cardinal Kuharic and Msgr Bozanic addressed the gathered
during the ceremony.
Present at the ceremony were all Croatian Archbishops and
bishops, priests and friars of the Zagreb archdiocese, bishops
from Bosnia-Herzegovina and other neighbouring countries,
Apostolic Nuncio to Croatia, Giulio Einaudi, as well as
representatives of the Croatian authority, members of the
diplomatic corps and representatives of other religious
communities.
