OSCE ANNOUNCES ELECTIONS RESULTS FOR ONLY FOUR BOSNIAN TOWNS

SARAJEVO, Oct 1 (Hina) - The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina did not publish results of the September 13-14 local elections on Wednesday afternoon, despite announcements earlier on the day that the mission would reveal them. Results only from four (4) Bosnian municipalities were available this eveniong. According to a member of the Bosnian provisional electoral commission, OSCE experts have said that during the counting of ballots and establishing the results of the elections a series of unexpected technical problems have occurred. The member of the provisional commission, Mirko Boskovic, said on Wednesday that results of elections in municipalities, for which no appeals have been lodged, might be expected by Sunday. According to him, in case where appeals have been submitted no results can be announced until the election appeals subcommision does not respond to appeals. But a session of that body is not due until October 7 and then results for 14 municipalities, to which appeals refer, can be expected. The four municipalities whose election results have been published by the OSCE are Tuzla and Hadzici in the Bosnian Croat- Moslem Federation, and Bosanski Brod and Rogatica in the Bosnian Serb entity. Thirty municipal aldermen were elected in Tuzla (north-eastern Bosnia), and the Joint List'97 won 16 seats. The coalition for the integrated and democratic Bosnia-Herzegovina won eight seats, whereas each the Croatian Democratic Party (HDZ BiH) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP-BiH) got three seats each. Out of 25 municipal aldermen in Hadzici (outside Sarajevo), 20 will be members of the coalition for the integrated and democratic Bosnia, four are member of the SDP and one is a member of the Join List'97. In Bosanski Brod, the Bosnian Sava river area, there will be 45 members of the municipal assembly. The Serb Democratic Party (SDS) won 17 seats and the HDZ won 13 seats. The coalition will have its five representatives, the Socialist Party will have four representatives, whereas the Croat Peasants' Party (HSS) and the Serb radicals will have three representatives each. In the eastern Bosnian town of Rogatica the municipal assembly consists of 49 deputies. The coalition won 21 seats, whereas the SDS got 16. Serb radicals and Serb socialists will be represented by nine and three members respectively. (hina) jn mš 012123 MET oct 97
