SARAJEVO, 23 Oct (Hina) - A month after the opening of four border
crossings between Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia over the river
Sava, obstacles set up by the Bosnian Serb police were removed,
spokesman for the Office of the High Representative in Sarajevo,
Duncan Bullivant, told reporters in Sarajevo Thursday.
The next step was to achieve a more lenient procedure of Croatian
customs officials, Bullivant added. #L#
The border crossing over the bridge near Gradiska, 120 km east of
Zagreb, was functioning well. Until recently, the Serb police had
been taking money for exit visas, but that had been stopped.
However, there were still some difficulties with the Croatian
customs service, which demanded visas and did not recognise
personal documents issued in Republika Srpska, Bullivant said.
The officials in Westendorp's office were closely cooperating with
the Croatian authorities with the aim of removing those obstacles
and securing unimpeded traffic of goods and passengers over the
border, Bullivant said.
