PLOCE, Oct 22 (Hina) - The Independent Union of Ploce Port Workers
launched a petition on Wednesday in support of a demand by the
Croatian Alliance of Trade Unions that an agreement on the use of
Ploce port for the commercial purposes of the Bosnian Moslem-Croat
Federation should not infringe on Croatian sovereignty.
Union leaders announced that the port workers would be joined in
their demands by residents of Ploce on Thursday.
"Our position is that the port of Ploce should be used only in the
mutual economic interest of Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, and
that the sovereignty of our state should in no way be infringed
upon," union representative Bozo Glamuzina said.
"If the Croatian government signs an agreement on the use of Ploce
port which would in any way infringe upon Croatian sovereignty, we
will consider it an act of high treason and we will organise and
implement the blockade of all traffic in the ports of Ploce, Split,
Sibenik, Zadar and Rijeka," Glamuzina said.
