GENEVA, Oct 15 (Hina) - The South-Eastern European Cooperation
Initiative (SECI) programme committee held a session in Geneva on
Wednesday.
Delegations of eleven SECI member-countries, interested
international and regional organisations and observers, including
Croatia, discussed preparations for implementation of the six
priority projects for cooperation in the region.
The greatest progress has been made in the preparation of
project documentation for the reconstruction of the twelve busiest
border crossings in the southeast of Europe. Five of these crossings
are between Croatia and its neighbouring countries.
Assistant Foreign Minister Spomenka Cek, who is heading the
Croatian delegation, said that Croatia was interested in broadening
and modernising its border crossings, which was the reason why it
was taking active part in the elaboration of technical documentation
for this project which was nearing completion.
The other project interesting to Croatia is the project for
the environmental protection and the resumption of traffic along the
Danube river.
The SECI committee announced that Germany would be involved in
the implementation of this project, and the first working meeting of
the interested Danube river countries was convened for early
December in Vienna.
