VUKOVAR, Oct 22 (Hina) - The reconstruction of museums in the UN-
administered Croatian Danube region is under way and the
restoration of cultural heritage in the region has begun, the
Croatian Council for Museums said at a session in Vukovar on
Wednesday.
The Ministry of Culture has earmarked about two million kuna
($300,000) to finance the reconstruction of the Vukovar Town
Library and repairs on the roof of Eltz Castle, Assistant Culture
Minister Branka Sulc said.
Vukovar Town Museum Director Ruza Maric said that the museum would
soon return to Vukovar from exile. A smaller portion of its
collections was preserved in Vukovar, while those compiled in exile
would be stored at temporary locations until the restoration of
Eltz Castle.
