indicted six persons for fraud and document forgery in illegal trade
with abandoned Serb property. #L#
The indictment of the first defendant, a lawyer M.A. from
Zadar, read that he used to search for abandoned family houses owned
by Serb refugees, and by forging sales contracts would make them the
property of other persons, who then in cooperation with him would
sell the same property to third parties.
The other five indictees agreed to play mediators in the
illegal trade.
It was established during the investigating procedure that
ten items of real property belonging to persons of Serb nationality
were included in the illegal trade.
The first defendant in the indictment, M.A., is also charged
with forging different documents, residence certificates, school
diplomas, public notaries' seals and signatures.
M.A. has been detained for several months and his trial is
expected to start soon. Two other indictees, N.L. and R.B., are at
large.
