in 1997 will exceed the amount of 100 million dollars, which is a
considerable increase compared to 1996, trade advisor in the
Spanish Embassy in Zagreb Montserrat Perez told a press
conference at the Zagreb International Trade Fair on Thursday.

The extent of cooperation between the two countries is on
the increase constantly, especially after a recent visit of the
Croatian Premier Zlatko Matesa and his associates to Madrid,
Perez said.
Spanish credit lines with Croatia have been opened for four
years and investments are more frequent, she said.
Spain is interested in five areas of cooperation with
Croatia - telecommunications and the Croatian Post and
Telecommunications, modernisation of railways and production of
carriages, modernisation and reconstruction of infrastructure,
tourism (especially hotel management) and shipbuilding industry.
Spain has already purchased five ships from Croatian
shipbuilders, Perez said.
At this year's Zagreb International Autumn Trade Fair,
Spain is represented by 24 exhibitors.
