MOSTAR, Aug 18 (Hina) - Mostar Mayor Ivan Prskalo on Monday
requested of Robert Frowick, the head of the mission in BH of the
Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, to change a
decision of the mission's subcommission for appeals, under which
three Croatian Democratic Union Party (HDZ) candidates for the
Bosnian September municipal election in Mostar municipalities
with Croat majority had been "taken off" the candidate lists.
The subcommission for appeals reached the said decision
last week, with the explanation that Mostar's HDZ was responsible
for incendiary language broadcast by local Croat television in
Mostar.
In a letter to Frowick, Mayor Prskalo assessed the decision
as "lacking in argument and unfounded". The mayor is of the
opinion that the letter is making the pre-election atmosphere in
Mostar "heated" again.
Prskalo proposed that he and Frowick meet on 21 August to
discuss the current situation and preparations for the local
election.
