CROATIAN AGRICULTURE MINISTER VISITS VUKOVAR

VUKOVAR, Aug 11 (Hina) - The supervisory board of VUPIK, the agricultural and processing plant from Vukovar, on Monday held a meeting with its administration board, deciding that data on the current situation of the enterprise must be gathered as soon as possible, and that superiors must work out a job plan, offer employees work contracts, work out business balances of all of VUPIK's components and make the preliminaries for the autumn harvest and other agricultural activities. To carry out the mentioned tasks, VUPIK's supervisory board designated the present managers of the 16 enterprises the plant was divided in during the Serb occupation, and coordinators appointed today for each of the 16 enterprises. Even though VUPIK is registered as a single enterprise with the Trade Court in Osijek, Serb representatives opposed the reunification of the plant's 16 enterprises. However, during a discussion headed today by Croatian Agriculture Minister and VUPIK's supervisory board president Zlatko Dominikovic, they agreed to the proposals made by Dominikovic and Croatian members of the supervisory boards. It has been decided that by 15 August VUPIK's administration shall prepare an autumn harvest and farm machinery plan, and submit requests for credit-allocation to some VUPIK enterprises if there is interest. The supervisory board also decided that as of today, this body must authorize every international business venture VUPIK undertakes. The supervisory board appointed Petar Cobankovic from Ilok as new manager of VUPIK's wine-cellar in Ilok. Because of the opposition the wine- cellars' illegally appointed last manager showed to the peaceful reintegration, Croatian representatives have been unable to access the wine-cellar. For this reason Dominikovic and VUPIK's supervisory board will visit Ilok during the day. During a break in the session, the agriculture minister and members of the supervisory board attended the first post-war loading of wheat from the Priljevo silo in Vukovar on trains bound to other parts of Croatia. Dominikovic recalled that about 90,000 tons of wheat had been purchased in the Danube region of eastern Croatia, which was about 30,000 more than planned. Next year, some 280,000 hectares in this region should be sown with wheat, which was 36 percent more than last year, he added. (hina) ha rm 111600 MET aug 97
