BOSNIA AND IMF TO CONCLUDE A TREATY SOON

SARAJEVO, July 4 (Hina) - During negotiations Bosnia-Herzegovina's authorities and International Monetary Fund (IMF) officials have reached agreement on almost all questions about financial cooperation and the signing a treaty, which will open the way toward holding a donors' conference on aid to Bosnia. The layout of the future state currency and some other questions regarding the (Croat-Moslem) Federation budget are still to be agreed upon. Agreement was reached on almost all elements of a draft economic programme that might be backed by the IMF, the IMF mission's chief, Scott Brown, said in Sarajevo, on Friday. Brown expected that a solution to the question how the state currency would look like, would be solved next week, and the remaining problems about the federal budget could be settled in one or two days. After these conditions are met, Bosnia will be granted a $90- million credit. Brown warned that the country could count on serious negotiations on a stand-by arrangement with the IMF only when a single Central Bank began to function. The functioning of the bank is expected to start in mid-August. (hina) jn mš 041338 MET jul 97
