SARAJEVO, 28 June (Hina) - Representatives of 12 member-countries of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) confirmed their readiness to continue financial support for reconstruction programs in Bosnia- Herzegovina at a meeting
of an OIC working group, which ended in Sarajevo on Saturday. The working group, whose purpose is to mobilise assistance for Bosnia-Herzegovina, also called for complete and consistent implementation of the Dayton agreement.
SARAJEVO, 28 June (Hina) - Representatives of 12 member-countries of the
Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) confirmed their readiness to
continue financial support for reconstruction programs in Bosnia-
Herzegovina at a meeting of an OIC working group, which ended in
Sarajevo on Saturday. The working group, whose purpose is to mobilise
assistance for Bosnia-Herzegovina, also called for complete and
consistent implementation of the Dayton agreement. #L#
The projects which are to be financed by Islamic countries include
the reconstruction of industrial facilities, housing fund, the creation
of conditions for the return of refugees, the reconstruction of schools
but also participation in the implementation of 'Equip and Train'
programs, intended for the training of the Federation forces, Bosnia's
Deputy Foreign Minister Husein Zivalj told reporters after today's
meeting.
'Islamic countries showed readiness for friendship and partnership
with Bosnia and Herzegovina", Zivalj said, adding that the OIC promised
to provide additional financial aid, along with the 241 million dollars
it promised earlier.
The representatives of Bangladesh, Brunei, Egypt, Guinea,
Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Malaysia, Morocco, Pakistan, Qatar and Turkey
and OIC representatives called for the organisation of a donors'
conference on help in the reconstruction of Bosnia-Herzegovina as soon
as possible, said the text of a document adopted at the end of the
Sarajevo conference.
