VUKOVAR, July 9 (Hina) - Yugoslavia's charge d'affaires in Croatia,
Ambassador Veljko Knezevic, on Wednesday visited Vukovar, the main town
in the UN-administered Danube river region of eastern Croatia, where he
met for talks with local Serb leaders.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Knezevic expressed
disappointment that newly-elected local governments were still not
functioning.
He announced that Croatia and Yugoslavia would soon sign five
bilateral agreements.
Knezevic said that Yugoslavia was eager to solve the problem of
dual citizenship and demilitarisation of a belt along the border with
Croatia. He refused to give any details, stressing that it was a very
delicate issue.
Asked about the return of displaced persons and refugees to the
Croatian Danube region, Knezevic welcomed the willingness of the
Croatian government to return Serb refugees to their prewar homes in an
organised way.
