ZAGREB, July 30 (Hina) - An assistant to Croatian Foreign Minister, Hido
Biscevic, on Wednesday delivered a severe protest to Yugoslav Embassy
charge d'affaires in Zagreb, Veljko Knezevic, over frequent examples of
intimidation and eviction of Croatians in some towns of the FR Yugoslavia
(Serbia/Montenegro), particularly in Zemun.
Biscevic said that the Republic of Croatia was especially concerned
about a lack of Yugoslav authorities' official response by which they would
condemn such negative acts carried out or stimulated by individuals from
the FRY political life, the Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Biscevic spoke of the contents of a recent letter which Croatian
Foreign Minister Mate Granic had sent to his Yugoslav counterpart Milan
Milutinovic, in which Granic stressed that such acts did not contribute to
building of mutual confidence, but obstructed talks on rights of populations
in border areas and could affect overall relations in implementation of the
normalisation agreement between the two countries, read the statement.
