The struggle against white-collar crime and organised crime were
priorities, as well as the ensuring of the safe return of displaced
persons to the Croatian Danube river region with the help of the
Transitional Police, Penic said.
In the first half of the year, 13,740 general crimes had been
committed, 4,529 white-collar crimes, 3,273 organised crimes and 1,428
criminal use of drugs had been committed, he said. He added that 11,840
persons had been registered for committing these crimes.
The structure of criminal acts had been changing in the past few
years and white-collar and organised crimes were being noticed in ever
growing numbers, while general crime was dropping, Penic said.
He recalled the great success of the Croatian police in
confiscation of drugs, and that 744 offenders had been discovered.
