ALEKSOVSKI SEEKS SEPARATE TRIAL, CHALLENGES FORM OF HIS INDICTMENT

THE HAGUE, June 27 (Hina) - Zlatko Aleksovski, member of the Croatian Defence Council (HVO), indicted by the International War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague (ICTY), challenged the form of his indictment and asked for a separate trial, ICTY said in a statement on Thursday. In a motion filed on 19 June 1997, Aleksovski requested of the trial chamber to order the prosecutor to supply a sufficient description of his conduct constituting the crime stipulated in the indictment. He asked for a precise description of the location, time and methods of execution of the alleged crimes, "and above all, persons involved". "In his motion, the accused also seeks to be severed from his four co-accused in the indictment, (…) and tried separately," the statement said. (hina) lm 271407 MET jun 97
