JASENOVAC, June 22 (Hina) - On occasion of Croatia's Day of Antifascist
Struggle and the anniversary of the establishment of the first unit of
Croatian Partisans, a delegation of the association of antifascist war
veterans, led by its vice president Vinko Sunjara, on Sunday laid a
wreath at the Jasenovac memorial for all victims of the Jasenovac
concentration camp.
Representatives of Croatian Gypsies' Community, led by Stevo
Djurdjevic, also placed a wreath at the memorial site.
Sunjara said that they had come to pay their respects to victims of
the Jasenovac concentration camp, and said that "In memory and respect
to victims, Jasenovac's flower in bloom (the shape of the monument) was
erected symbolising life, love and forgiveness on the contrary to crime
and death."
"Jasenovac and its monument will be a warning in the memory of
history and a message to future generations that the evil must not be
forgotten and anything similar must not be allowed to occur," he added.
