ZAGREB, 15 June (Hina) - All polling places in Croatia were closed at 7 p.m. Sunday. Today's elections were the second direct presidential elections since the establishment of Croatia's independence. The first incomplete results will
be made known after midnight, the Election Commission said.

A total of 7,558 polling places in Croatia and abroad were opened
for today's elections. Voters in Croatia could cast their ballots at
6,492 regular polling stations, 131 mixed polling stations (for
soldiers, seamen and prisoners), 592 polling places for Croatian
displaced people as well as at 144 polling places in the U.N.-
administered area.
The Croatian citizens who are permanently or temporarily resident
or happened to be in a foreign country on election day, could vote at
158 polling places in 46 countries.
According to returns from 5,337 polling stations in Croatia, by 4
p.m., 42.52% of voters, or 1.277,002 out 3.003,374 voters registered in
those polling stations, cast their votes.
A total of 4.060,312 voters - 3.682,607 in Croatia and 377,705
abroad - went to the polls at today's elections.
At today's presidential elections, Croatian citizens living in
Croatia and abroad could choose between three candidates - Vlado
Gotovac, Zdravko Tomac and Franjo Tudjman.
