WASHINGTON, 9 June (Hina) - A former U.S. senator, Paul Simon, would
monitor the forthcoming presidential elections in Croatia as a special
co-ordinator of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe
(OSCE), State Department spokesman Nicholas Burns told a press
conference Monday. #L#
The OSCE will have 100 monitors in Croatia and 40 of them will be
Americans. The 15 June elections will also be monitored by special
parliamentary delegations of OSCE member countries.
Senator Simon will announce the results of his monitoring mission
on 16 June.
