ZAGREB, June 10 (Hina) - The Croatian government did not accept a
request of presidential candidate Vlado Gotovac for the postponement of
presidential elections scheduled for 15 June because there "exist no
constitutional or legal prepositions for the acceptance of this
request," the Croatian government's press office said on Tuesday.
"The Law on Elections of the President of the Republic of Croatia
does not envisage possibilities mentioned in (Gotovac's) request for
setting new deadlines of elections," the statement said.
Croatian opposition presidential candidate Vladimir Gotovac on
Tuesday requested of the Croatian Government to set a new date for the
presidential elections so that he might make up for the time lost due to
health problems caused by a brutal physical attack on the part of
Captain Brzovic during the 5 June pre-election rally in Pula.
