VINKOVCI, Nov 10 (Hina) - Each war-ravaged municipality in the
Croatian Danube River region will present three reconstruction
projects to international representatives at a donors' conference
for the reconstruction and development of Croatia which is to be
held in Zagreb on December 4 and 5.
Vukovar-Srijem Prefect Rudolf Koenig chaired Tuesday's meeting of
representatives of towns and municipalities in the Danubian region
during which he said that the most important reconstruction
projects - eastern Slavonia's regional water-supply system and the
Danube-Sava canal will be submitted by the Croatian Reconstruction
and Development Ministry.
Considering that municipalities will be offering plans exclusively
for the reconstruction of buildings and facilities, the County will
present an investment plan for the revival and development of small
and middle-scale agricultural enterprises.
Koenig suggested that the city of Vukovar submit its offers and
plans at a separate stand independent of reconstruction plans for
the rest of the county, towns and municipalities.
We would like to collect around US$200 million at the donors'
conference, he stated.
Around 50 per cent of all funds collected at the conference should
be allocated to the Vukovar-Srijem County, 30 per cent to the
Osijek-Baranja County (eastern Croatia) while the remainder should
be allocated towards reconstruction and development projects in
other war-torn parts of Croatia, Koenig assessed.
