ZAGREB, Oct 19 (Hina) - International representatives were
acquainted on Monday with a Croatian government plan on the
reconstruction of Croatia, and assessed the remaining unclear
issues on the holding of a donors' conference for Croatia's
reconstruction and development might be resolved this week.
Premier Zlatko Matesa and Reconstruction and Development Minister
Jure Radic met with representatives of the United States, the
European Union EU), and the Organisation for Security and
Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
U.S. Ambassador William Montgomery assessed today's meeting as
very constructive.
"The international community accepted the reconstruction plan
without remarks", said Minister Radic, adding the international
representatives had taken part in consultations while the plan was
being drafted.
The Croatian government hopes a date for the donors' conference
could be set by week's end, Radic said.
Dialogue with the Croatian government on reconstruction and
refugee return issues will continue, said Ambassador Montgomery,
adding these issues called for another meeting to be held this
week.
The reconstruction plan, in whose implementation the participants
in the conference should take part, is aimed at the reconstruction
of houses, the infrastructure, and public services necessary for a
successful refugee return process.
Taking part in today's talks were Rudolf Bogner, Ambassador of
Austria, current EU presiding country, British Ambassador Colin
Munroe, OSCE mission to Croatia head Tim Guldimann, and European
Commission Zagreb office head Per Vinther.
