ZAGREB, Nov 5 (Hina) - War crimes suspect Nada Sakic on Thursday met
her husband Dinko Sakic, another World War Two crimes suspect, in a
prison of the Zagreb County Court.
The meeting took place following a decision of the Zagreb County
Court investigating judge, Nada Sakic's court-appointed attorney
Branko Seric told reporters in Zagreb.
Nada Sakic has been in custody of the Zagreb County prison since
November 2, when Argentinean authorities granted Croatia's
extradition request due to suspicions that she committed crimes
against humanity and the international law as a Croatian WW2
concentration camp official.
Seric said he and the defendant had already begun working on her
defence which will be made public once they assess the time was
right.
"I have to go through her whole life. That is a very long period of
time," he said, adding all facts must be presented legally.
Nada Sakic has still not undergone all the necessary medical
examinations, and it remains unknown whether during pre-trial
proceedings she will be detained at the prison hospital or the
County prison.
Currently accommodated in the County prison, Seric said his client
has difficulty moving about due to illness.
"Due to Parkinson's disease she also has difficulty writing, so I
wrote the request to meet her husband," he added.
Dinko Sakic has been in custody of the Zagreb County prison as of
June 18. Accused of war crimes committed during his command of
another Croatian WW2 concentration camp, he was also extradited
from Argentina. Pre-trial proceedings against him have already
been completed.
