COURT IN SPLIT HEARS TWO WITNESSES IN SAKIC CASE -

- ( Editorial: --> 8111 ) SPLIT, Oct 13 (Hina) - Zeljko Konjic, the Investigating Judge of the County Court in Zagreb, heard on Tuesday in Split, the evidence of two witnesses in the case of Dinko Sakic, a former commander of the Jasenovac concentration camp from the time of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH, 1941-1945). Dervis Sarac (73) and Ivo Senjanovic (82) testified against Dinko Sakic. According to an unofficial source, during separate hearings behind the closed doors, one witness said that he saw more than three executions in the Jasenovac concentration camp while it was under Sakic's command. The witness also said he saw Sakic shooting and killing doctor Mile Boskovic. One of the witnesses, who spoke under condition of anonymity, told the press before the trial that he saw a hanging of a Nikola Pejanovic in Jasenovac. The other witness, imprisoned in the Jasenovac concentration camp during two or three months in late 1942 and early 1943, did not see Sakic in the camp, nor does he know anything about his activities. He also claims he did not see any executions in the Jasenovac camp. Present at the hearing were also the Zagreb County State Attorney Radovan Santek and Sakic's attorney Ivan Kern. Three more witnesses should testify at the hearing on Wednesday in Split. In the investigation against the former commander of Jasenovac concentration camp, Dinko Sakic, charged with war crimes against civilians, around forty witnesses have been heard so far.
