ZAGREB, Nov 3 (Hina) - Nada Sakic, a war crime suspect, accused of
crimes against civilians during World War II, will appear before
the investigating judge of Zagreb's County Court on Tuesday.
Argentina extradited Nada Sakic to Croatia on Sunday, November 1,
and she arrived in Zagreb on Monday, escorted by Croatian Interpol
officials.
Following a visit to his client in the Zagreb County Prison on
Tuesday, Sakic's court appointed attorney Branko Seric said that
despite Sakic's exhaustion and jet lag she would appear before the
investigating judge. Seric added that his client had not eaten for
three days.
After she was examined by doctors on Monday night, Sakic was
informed of the decision on investigation and handed a document
saying she would remain in custody.
Seric said that his client underwent general and specialist
examinations, adding he had not seen the results of the check-up.
"Despite everything, I favour the idea of her staying in the County
Prison, if provided with proper medical care, instead of moving her
to the prison's infirmary".
Seric stressed that his client had Parkinson disease and the
accommodation in prison would be more suitable.
The attorney today requested that his client meet with her husband,
Dinko Sakic, who has been kept in custody since June 18.
The investigation procedure against Dinko Sakic, World War II
commander of the Ustasha concentration camp Jasenovac, is being
conducted before the same court.
