SARAJEVO, Oct 9 (Hina) - High International Representative in
Bosnia-Herzegovina Carlos Westendorp on Friday called on all
officials in Bosnia-Herzegovina to show restraint in any public
show of support for any one side, or stimulate the public do to the
same, in case of the international community deciding to intervene
in Kosovo.
Westendorp's statement issued on Friday stressed that the
international community would not tolerate attempts of any elected
official to stimulate the public to acts of violence.
In case this should happen, the High Representative will not
hesitate to undertake action against anyone violating this
request.
Westendorp warned officials in both entities of Bosnia-
Herzegovina, the Croat-Moslem Bosnian Federation and the Bosnian
Serb Republika Srpska, that they carried all responsibility for
security in the country, and they had to ensure that the Dayton and
Washington agreements continue to be implemented and peace
maintained.
This warning also pertains to the media in the country, who were
asked to report in a fair and unbiased manner.
The same principle applies for broadcasting programmes of other
countries transmitting in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
