ZAGREB, Oct 8 (Hina) - The United States embassy in Zagreb warned
American citizens in Croatia to take caution due to possible
retaliations by Yugoslavia and Republika Srpska against possible
NATO airstrikes because of the violence against Albanian nationals
in Serbia's southern province of Kosovo, the embassy reported in
Zagreb on Thursday.
The U.S. embassy has advised its citizens to keep an eye on the
development of events and to take particular personal care.
The American community has not been forwarded any particular
threats, however the embassy has warned of unforeseeable reactions
which the Belgrade authorities and citizens of Serbia, Montenegro
and Republika Srpska may take in retaliation to NATO military
intervention in Yugoslavia.
U.S. embassy staff in Zagreb have implemented special security
measures during official trips in Croatian regions bordering with
Serbia, particularly the Croatian Danube river region, and with
northern regions of Republika Srpska.
The U.S. state secretary had already warned its citizens about the
dangers of travelling to Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina
and particularly Republika Srpska in Bosnia-Herzegovina, a
statement said.
