ZAGREB, Oct 5 (Hina) - Croatian Health Minister Zeljko Reiner on
Monday opened the Croatian Institute of Occupational Medicine,
which the Croatian government established on January 26, 1996.
The Institute is a health institution with the task of protecting
and improving the health of the working population in Croatia.
According to Minister Reiner, the Institute will also be the
umbrella institution supervising and coordinating occupational
medicine doctor's offices in the country.
The manager of the Institute, Igor Jelcic, said the Institute would
use expert and scientific insight to formulate rules and modes of
work in occupational medicine, implement heath protection
measures, and cooperate in the drafting of labour legislation.
The Institute will also educate all who take part in the protection
of the workers' health.
The Croatian Institute of Occupational Medicine includes the
Department of Aviation Medicine for Civil Aviation and the
Department of Specific Health Protection, Transport Medicine and
Industrial Poisoning.
Manager Jelcic said the Institute would cooperate with all health
institutions, competent state bodies, and other experts.
