VIENNA, Sept 22 (Hina) - Croatian Economy Minister Nenad Porges on
Tuesday said in Vienna he was satisfied with Croatia's cooperation
with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), particularly
in technology, medicine and science.
Addressing an annual IAEA conference, Porges advocated the use of
atomic energy for peace purposes.
Porges also commented on the disagreements Croatia and
neighbouring Slovenia have over Krsko, a jointly-owned nuclear
power plant on Slovene territory.
The two countries must make more effort towards finding a common
approach to all open issues, primarily with regard to Krsko's
security issues, the Economy Minister said.
The resolution of disputed issues surrounding the plant was
discussed by Croatian and Slovene delegations in Vienna.
Today Porges also signed a protocol supplementary to an agreement
on the non-spreading of nuclear weaponry.
Croatia has been an IAEA member since 1992. It has no nuclear plants
on its territory, but uses radioactive materials in industry,
health and research activities.
