ZAGREB, Sept 28 (Hina) - The Croatian Institute for Radiation
Prevention was opened in Zagreb on Monday.
The main task of the institution is protection against ionisation,
nuclear radiation, inspection and following of radiation from a
number of apparatus used in medicine (X-ray, CAT scan), and those
used by the Interior Ministry, Croatian Army and others, Health
Minister Zeljko Reiner said at the opening.
The institute will soon be required to solve problems regarding
nuclear waste, and protection from electromagnetic fields (mobile
phones, microwave ovens, etc.), Reiner said.
The institute will have a central data base and professionally
train radiation prevention experts.
