CRO BORDER POLICE PREVENT ILLEGAL ENTRY OF 37 KOSOVO ALBANIANS

( Editorial: --> 8899 ) ZAGREB, Sept 8 (Hina) - Croatian border police stationed at the Bregana border crossing in the period between September 1 and 7 prevented the illegal crossing of 24 adults and 13 children, all ethnic Albanians were citizens of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY). The Albanians came from the Kosovo region and travelled through the FRY and Bosnia to enter Croatia with stolen falsified Croatian passports, Zagreb police spokesman Josip Begovic said on Tuesday. A large number of the passports were invalid because they had been reported stolen by their owners. The passports had been falsified with a photo of the refugee persons simply stuck in them along with the details of the true owners. The Kosovo Albanians have been taken into custody and remanded to appear before the Magistrate's Court in Samobor near Zagreb, where they were sentenced for illegally crossing the border and overcoming protective measures enforced to prohibit their entry into the Republic of Croatia. An investigation is to be held with regard to the falsification of the passports. (Hina) sp jn /mbr 081501 MET sep 98
