YUGOSLAV CITIZENS WITH SLOVENE PASSPORTS DEPORTED FROM ITALY

( Editorial: --> 8718 ) ZADAR, Sept 7 (Hina) - The Zadar County Police Department has taken into custody one Slovene and more than nine Yugoslav citizens who were on September 4 deported from the Italian coastal town of Ancona, where they had arrived by boat from Zadar, by the Italian police under suspicion of having forged passports. After a criminal investigation police charged the Yugoslavs with forging documents, and the Slovene with assisting persons to illegally cross the Croatian border, and referred all 10 persons to the Zadar County Court investigating judge. According to Zadar Police, the Yugoslav citizens are from the area of Sandzak, probably fleeing military draft. The arrest warrant was issued for one more Slovene, also for assisting persons to illegally cross the Croatian border. In the group from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) there were also two women and as many children, one only a year old. On Friday night the judge investigating the case at the Zadar County Court ordered detention for the FRY citizens and the Slovene. Since children cannot be detained, they were placed together with their mothers in one of Zadar's tourist villages. The suspects were deported from Ancona after the police had suspected the authenticity of the Slovene passports they had used to arrive in Ancona. In the course of criminal investigation at Zadar it was established that nine detained FRY citizens had illegally crossed the Croatian border from Bosnia-Herzegovina on September 2 near the town of Velika Kladusa.
