PRISTINA, Aug 18 (Hina) - Five Albanians were killed in clashes with
Yugoslav border police between Monday night and early Tuesday
morning, says the pro-Serbian government Media Centre in
Pristina.
It said the incident occurred on the Albanian-Yugoslav border west
of the Kosovo town of Prizren, when 20 or so armed Albanians tried to
illegally enter the southern Yugoslav province.
The centre as usual did not give figures on Yugoslav casualties.
Meanwhile, Kosovo Albanian sources in Pristina have reported that
the situation in the province was calmer on Tuesday, while smaller
clashes were recorded in the areas of Djakovica, Decani and Suva
Reka.
However thousands of refugees remain in a very difficult
situation.
Local Albanian sources in Djakovica said the situation was very
tense in the town because of a shortage of food and medicine for
about 60,000 refugees.
There is a similar difficult situation in other parts of western
Kosovo.
