ZAGREB, Aug 15 (Hina) - The issue of the southernmost Croatian
peninsula of Prevlaka is at the top of the list of issues to be
discussed by Croatian and Yugoslav foreign ministers next week.
Yugoslav Foreign Minister Zivadin Jovanovic will arrive in Zagreb
on August 18 when he will hold talks with his Croatian counterpart
Mate Granic.
In an interview for the Croatian Television on Friday night,
Granic's assistant, Vladimir Drobnjak, said a special UN Security
Council resolution encouraged a dialogue between the two sides.
He recalled that Croatia had offered a concrete suggestion to solve
the issue of Prevlaka.
Croatia's stance that the issue of Prevlaka is not territorial, but
a security issue, and a change in the current international border
is not an option.
Drobnjak recalled that a new report is expected ion October 15 by
the UN Secretary-General on the issue, which should include an
assessment of what had been achieved in the dialogue between
Croatia and Yugoslavia so far.
Drobnjak stressed there were a number of other open issues that
needed to be discussed by the two countries.
The meeting between the two foreign ministers "confirmed Croatia's
strategic choice to be a factor of stability and security in the
region".
