TENJA, July 24 (Hina) - The Yugoslav Ambassador to Croatia on Friday
said Yugoslavia would suggest the cancellation of visas at a mid-
August meeting of foreign ministers of the two countries, following
the practice in other European countries and considering the
interests of both the Croatian and the Yugoslav peoples.
Croatia and Yugoslavia will sign agreements on trade and investment
protection, which will be followed by the regulation of money
transfers, Ambassador Veljko Knezevic told a public panel in Tenja,
eastern Croatia, which was organised by the Serb Cultural Society
"Prosvjeta" (Education).
"The (mid-August) meeting will also tackle unresolved political
issues such as Prevlaka (a disputed tip in southernmost Croatia
bordering with Yugoslavia), the respect of the right to return, the
protection of property of Yugoslav citizens in Croatia and of
Croatian citizens in Yugoslavia", said Knezevic.
The two countries will also discuss the expansion of road and
establishment of air transport, the regulation of transport along
the Danube river, and the establishment of mixed inter-state
commissions for establishing borders.
"There will be talks about prisoners, if there are any, on the
Croatian and the Serb side", Knezevic said.
The foreign ministers will also talk about "taking the exhumation
and identification of the killed off the agenda", the Ambassador
said, and called the Serbian aggression on Croatia as "civil war".
Knezevic also said it should be admitted that the victims of the
Homeland War in Croatia also included Serbs, who have to have a
"dignified burial".
Speaking about the possibility of granting dual citizenship to
Croatian Serbs, Knezevic said before such a decision was reached,
Yugoslavia had to make the "necessary political, constitutional
and legal preparations" and assess the situation in Yugoslavia.
Knezevic believed in the survival of Serbs in Croatia. In the future
they will enjoy "more cooperation and concrete cultural,
spiritual, material and political assistance when it is
necessary."
