SARAJEVO, June 25 (Hina) - Deputy Premier of the Federation of
Bosnia-Herzegovina and Finance Minister, Drago Bilandzija, denied
claims that he has joined the "New Croat Initiative" and announced
that he is remaining in the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) of BH,
of which he is a presidency member.
Bilandzija however in an interview published in Thursday's
Sarajevo daily, Oslobodenje, announced that following the
September elections he intends to step down from all his current
posts and listed criticisms of HDZ BH policies to date.
He said that within the party there exist two approaches to the
implementation of Dayton and that he personally advocates the full
adoption of the peace agreement as opposed to partial realisation.
According to Bilandzija, HDZ BH has shown the wrong attitude to
participation in bodies of authority, because Croat staff have not
been place in responsible positions in state ministries for nearly
a year.
A similar situation exists in the federal Parliament where of the 38
allowed Croat representatives only 10 to 15 are showing up to Lower
House sessions which Bilandzija considers catastrophic
behaviour.
According to Bilandzija, the central bodies of HDZ BH should have
been based in Sarajevo (rather than Mostar) where all the political
power is concentrated as well as the bases of international
organisations.
