MEETING OF A JOINT CROATIAN-YUGOSLAV COMMISSION

( Editorial: --> 8960 ) ZAGREB, 4 June (Hina)- A joint Croatian-Yugoslav commission for implementation of Article 7 of the Agreement on Normalisation of Relations between Croatia and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) met in Zagreb on Thursday for a regular meeting. The meeting was chaired by Bozo Marendic, head of the mission's Croatian delegation and Radivoj Rajakovic, the FRY's Deputy Justice Minister, who led the Yugoslav delegation. The two parties discussed and assessed the process of the return of refugees and displaced persons, a joint statement says. The meeting agreed on the models for the return of refugees, conforming to the Protocol on Organised Return. The parties also commended the improvement in the resolution of property issues, with an accent on the respect of property rights of physical entities. Further efforts in that field should focus on an early creation of conditions for the full exercising of property rights by the owners. The commission also debated issues concerning the property of legal entities from Croatia and the FRY. Following an agreement on respect of ownership and property, the two parties exchanged reports on general conditions of the property and decided to draft proposals for the resolution of property related problems. The meeting also dealt with problems concerning compensation for destroyed, damaged and missing property. The meeting did not help bridge the gap between the delegations' diverging stands regarding who is responsible for the damage and should be held liable for compensation. The parties agreed to keep talking about the damages. The next meeting of the joint commission will take place in Belgrade in early July, the statement says. (hina) mro/bag 041912 MET jun 98
