PRISTINA, June 24 (Hina) - The Kosovo Committee for Human Rights
Protection on Wednesday reported that nearly 300 Kosovo Albanians
had been killed and hundreds had been injured since the beginning of
this year's unrest in the southern Yugoslav province.
According to Committee figures, most of the victims were women,
children and the elderly. More than 150 Kosovo Albanians had been
arrested and were facing criminal prosecution, while 200 are listed
as missing.
The Committee report also says that at least 100,000 people - mostly
Albanians but also Serbs, Montenegrins, Turks and Muslims - had
left their homes, and that more than 5,000 houses had been
destroyed.
