PRISTINA, May 31 (Hina) - Serbian attacks on villages in the Kosovo
municipalities of Decani and Pec, which started three days ago,
continued on Sunday, Kosovo Albanian sources reported.
One adult and six children, aged 8 to 11, were wounded in the
shelling of the village of Isnici near Decani.
Two killed Albanians were identified in Strelce near Decani and it
is feared that the number of victims is even higher.
The Kosovo Information Centre estimates that the situation in this
part of Kosovo, which has been under siege and without phone links
for three days, is dramatic.
Albanian sources report fierce fighting in Isnic, while Decani is
in flames. Seventy people from Decani were arrested and their
destiny is unknown.
Shooting can be heard coming from three other villages in the Decani
municipality. The municipal representatives of Decani have called
on international representatives and humanitarian organisations
to take urgent action and save lives of people from the
municipalities under attack.
Serbian forces have continued the shelling of the village of Lausha
near Srbica and on Lapusnik and other villages in the Glogovac
municipality, the Kosovo Information Centre reported.
Serbian forces have detained two members of the Kosovo Democratic
Alliance presidency and an associate of the Pristina-based daily
"Bujku" in Djakovica.
The Kosovo Red Cross has appealed to international humanitarian
organisations to engage in the release of the three detainees.
Serbian sources have so far released no information on the attacks
and fighting in Decani and Pec.
Shooting from automatic weapons could be heard coming from Kosovo's
capital of Pristina as well.
