STOCKHOLM/ZAGREB, June 14 (Hina) - The Conference of Presidents of
European Parliamentary Assemblies which took place in Stockholm
Friday and Saturday has been excellently organised and very
successful, Croatian parliament speaker Vlatko Pavletic said upon
returning to Zagreb Saturday.
Many bilateral meetings have served as the basis for as many useful
agreements, he told reporters.
Pavletic was especially pleased at the fact that a Croatian
proposal was accepted to have the refugee problem discussed as part
of the security issue in the region at a Central European Initiative
parliament presidents meeting this autumn.
In her closing address, the Stockholm conference host Swedish
Parliament President Birgitta Dahl said she believed that progress
in future European cooperation would not be detrimental to the
national identities of peoples taking part in it.
