PAVLETIC LEAVES FOR STOCKHOLM CONFERENCE

( Editorial: --> 0487 ) ZAGREB, June 11 (Hina) - The main topic of this year's Conference of Presidents of European Parliaments, being held in Stockholm, will be the role of the parliaments in the development of democracy, said President of the Croatian Parliament Vlatko Pavletic before his departure to Sweden. "At the conference I will talk about the specific role of the Croatian Parliament in view of the fact that we first had to solve problems of departure from a multi-national state and following that had to work simultaneously along several tracks during the war," said Pavletic. The regular conference of presidents of European Parliaments is being held this year from 12-13 June. They will be addressed by the President of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly Leni Fischer and President of the Russian Lower House Genadij Seleznev, among others. The presidents will also be received by the Swedish king. "I will use the bilateral meetings to display the positions and problems of Croatia at the moment, and will try to get the support of individuals who are influential in their environments," said Pavletic.
