ZAGREB, June 4 (Hina) - Both Croatia and Poland wish and make great
efforts to join European institutions, Croatian Parliament Speaker
Vlatko Pavletic and Poland's Foreign Minister Bronislav Geremek
said after their meeting in Zagreb on Thursday.
Poland wants to become a member of NATO and European Union and one of
Poland's main priorities is its orientation towards Europe,
Geremek said.
As a Mediterranean, Central European and Danube River basin
country, Croatia has always been part of Europe. It has adopted a
series of laws which are completely harmonised with European
standards, Pavletic said.
Croatia wants to join European institutions as soon as possible but
the reasons for the slowness of that process are politically
motivated, Pavletic said speaking about pressures on Croatia
concerning the return of Serb refugees.
Croatia wants Serb refugees to return but that complex process
cannot be realised in one day, he added.
Geremek wished Croatia success in its joining European integration
processes.
The Croatian Parliament Speaker conveyed the Polish Foreign
Minister an invitation for the Polish Parliament Speaker to visit
Croatia.
